The Chicago Auto Show, which is produced by the Chicago Automobile Trade, originated back in 1901 with horseless carriages as their primary showcase possessions at Chicago’s Coliseum Hall. Much has changed since then. While the glory of this beautiful initiative remains intact, the traditional means of transportation, inventory is replaced with a grand exhibition of cutting-edge automotive technology.
Moreover, the show continues to grow in size with each passing year. Being in its 108th year, the Chicago Auto Show is the nation’s longest running automotive exhibition in the country. This event has now been shifted to a 2.7 million square feet space located at McCormick Place, for the companies to show off their newest creations and technologies. An additional space of up to three indoor and six outdoor test tracks has also been planned for this venue. It is usually held at the beginning of the each year.
Mark Bilek, senior director of communications and technology for the Chicago Automotive Trade Association, while commenting on McCormick Place said, “The show has all the room to see everything that is out there.”
World class vehicles are unveiled to the mass on this platform. Attendees of this event get the opportunity to interact with some of the very well-established personalities of the automotive industry, as well. The audience is expected to see up to fifteen to twenty premiers at the 2016 Chicago show. Among the companies that are officially taking part in the Chicago show are Kia, Hyundai, Ford Ram, Infiniti, Toyota, Nissan and Chevrolet among others.
“Expect to be knocked over. This is one of the top ten auto shows in the world,” added Bilek.
Other technological advancements and innovations such as; free Wifi, charging stations, climbing walls, race car simulators and multiple test tracks are also expected to be offered at the auto show. Besides, the show will also feature a new app, which smartphone users can use to download the official 2016 Chicago Auto Show app for a chance to win a new Buick Encore.
The app also includes on-demand daily schedules, a detailed map of the show for your better convenience, a well-organized list of vehicles on the screen, helpful and interactive videos, blog posts and many other social media feeds. It even hosts a Bluetooth locator that connects to others on the exhibition floor. Not only does this allow the process of communication for attendees to become faster, but they also receive information and deal about the cars quickly.
Some of the events that you must watch out for include; the black tie “First Look For Charity” event, that is to be held on 10th Feb from 7 pm to 11 pm. The tickets will cost $250, along with free buffet, drinks and 18 local charities.
“It is like a great party and buffet for 10,000 people,” Bilek said.
McCormick Place has enough space with parking lots available to its visitors.
