It is that time of year again! Car enthusiasts in the Chicagoland area get the opportunity to visit the Chicago Automobile Trade Association’s famous Chicago Auto Show! Around since 1935, the Auto Show showcases over a million square feet of the best new vehicles. Each year, the Chicago Auto Show is held at McCormick Place located on Lake Shore drive in the city. Here is all the information you might need if you want to attend this year’s event.
2016 Dates and Admission
The Chicago Auto Show will be open to the public beginning Saturday, February 13th and will go until Sunday, February 21st. If you are wondering what time to attend, the show will be open daily from 9am until 10pm, except for the last day of the event, in which it will close at 8pm. There are several options when it comes to ticket prices. A regular admission price for adults will cost $12, and $7 for seniors. Children ages 7-12 will also cost $7 and children under 6 are free. There is a discount of $5 available on tickets used during the weekday, which can be found at car dealerships and Shell locations around the Chicagoland area. These tickets can be purchased online, or at the McCormick Place box office.
Special event days
In order to attract different crowds of people, the Chicago Auto Show provides special event days. February 15th will be considered family, when families are encouraged to attend with their children. February 16th is Women’s Day, in which women are able to enter the show for only $7. February 17th through the 19th is the Chicago Auto Show Food Drive where visitors can pay a $7 entrance fee if they bring three cans of food to be donated to A Safe Haven Foundation. Each year, the Chicago Auto Show has some great exhibits on display with a wide variety of different vehicles. This year is no exception, as there is expected to be about 1,000 different vehicles on display. Exhibitions for this year include a multiple world and North American introductions, domestic and imported passenger cars and trucks, SUV’s, and experimental/concept cars. First Look for Charity
An awesome part of the Chicago Auto Show is the First Look For Charity Event. This event takes place before the show is made available to the public and will occur on Friday, February 12th. From 7pm to 11pm socialites and car buffs are able to get a first look at all the vehicles the auto show has to offer. Champagne, hors d’oeuvres, and desserts are available to all attendees. Each guest will also have the opportunity to win a brand new vehicle. In the past, guests have raised over $2.5 million for multiple Chicagoland non-profit organizations.
